Uncontrolled emotions
I am matured enough. It is just a game.
Yes, just a game where 11 players play with your emotions.
Oh my god, I was sitting tight, unmoved, just the fingers were remaining to bite, a heartbeat went missing, my eyes forgot to blink. That winning moment came with a loud whistle and a few drops of happy tears 🥲.
Why did it come? I am not playing there. I am not even a part of the game, then why? What made me cry?
Is that the love for game? Or love for the country? It includes a whole pack of things. The love for cricket, love for the country, hearing the “India! India!” chant and especially watching our favourite player get back in form.
I am not a fanboy kind, but I always love Virat Kohli’s attitude. Watching him come back to form after a year, that too in a world cup match against Pakistan, gives a feeling that cannot be expressed.
It all began with a positive start with a beautiful in-swinging delivery from a young Punjabi boy, Arshadeep Singh 🇮🇳 . The pitch seems to seam a lot, and India’s bowling unit restricts Pakistan to 159. Not a mammoth target to chase, but Haris Rauf 🇵🇰 was not ready to give it away for free. The Pakistani fireballs took 4 quick wickets for 33. The match began to slip out of our hands. Virat and Hardik began slowly building a steady partnership, but there was no belief in a win as Virat was not in his form.
Everything changed with that moment when Virat went into the back-foot and hit Rauf for a six over the sight screen. Oh wow! What a shot under pressure. I just jumped, screaming an unethical word, which made my mom close her ears. At that moment, I realised he was back. All our problems seem big and more fearful, but the moment you decide to take a step back and hit it hard, it falls into the stands. The courage and intention to hit it back is important. No more fears.
Then the match ends in favour of India with great twits and turns with a cheeky well-left wide ball and a single.
For Indian fans, cricket is a game of emotions. Even though it is not our national game, it is easy to connect. These exact feelings resurfaced while watching Mahi hit the final six in the World Cup. Even today, watching that final over and hearing Ravi Shastri on air screaming,
Dhoni finishes off in style! India lift the world cup after 28 years
Brings happy tears 🥲.
Moments like these make us motivated to win in life. It gives us a boost and confidence to fight back against all our problems like Virat does today. It makes us realise that the current hell is not a locked room. There is always a door waiting to be opened one day.
